Fairbury Speedway
Last Visited - 2017
Track Distance - 1/4 mile
Facilities - Limited
City/Town - Fairbury, Illinois, USA
Website - www.fairburyspeedway.com
Location - This track is not the easiest to access. Bloomington Illinois
is the most likely accommodation point at around 45 minutes drive South-East of
the track. I-55 and US-24 will be the highways you require to get there. Peoria
is around one hour ten minutes to the west and if you really want to create trouble
for yourself Chicago is around 2 hours to the North-East.
Parking - Whilst not massively expansive the field behind the front straight
grandstand appeared to be adequate for the sort of crowd that could be accommodated
by the respective stands.
Premiere Meeting - The Prairie Dirt Classic see's the World of Outlaws Late
Model series stop by for a two night $30,000 to win show.
Also worth attending - Winged Sprintcars should be fairly exciting around
this place so any time the MOWA or IRA series visits looks enticing. POWRI Midgets
or a big UMP Modified show would also be worth viewing.
Best spot to sit - Though the covered front straight grandstand looks
tempting the far side of the track provides just as good if not better
viewing via the uncovered stands. You'll also catch a bit more sun.
Classes run - Late Models, Pro Late Models, US Modifieds, Sportsman, US Street Stocks,
Winged Sprintcars, Non-wing Sprintcars, Midgets.
Uniqueness - Some places just look racey when you view them and this
is one such place. Like the iconic Kokomo Speedway the banking is graduated
which produces different lines through the night and a high line right out
by the wall for the A-Main. The track does lend itself to slide jobs and
a high quality of racing.
